What is the Junior Red Team Operator Internship?

The Junior Red Team Operator Internship is a structured, practical programme. Learn how to simulate real-world cyberattacks, exploit vulnerabilities, and test defenses through ethical hacking and adversary emulation techniques. The tasks cover Adversary Simulation Basics, Network Enumeration & Scanning and Initial Access Techniques using Sliver, Empire, BloodHound and SharpHound. Capstone project

Plan a bounded adversary-emulation exercise against a fictional enterprise lab using approved objectives and rules of engagement

  • Develop an attack path from supplied reconnaissance and identify decision points, assumptions, and abort conditions
  • Execute only approved simulated techniques, maintaining an operator log and evidence of defensive visibility
  • Map observed activity to MITRE ATT&CK and identify detection or control gaps without pursuing unnecessary access
  • Deliver the operation plan, timeline, ATT&CK map, deconfliction notes, and executive red-team report
  • Use test identities and isolated C2 only; never target real people, public systems, production tenants, or reusable credentials

Eligibility & Prerequisites

Eligibility

  • Strong passion for offensive security and ethical hacking.
  • Committed to completing the 8-week program with consistency.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from a technical field (preferred, not required).
  • Access to a reliable computer and internet connection.
  • Willing to participate in red teaming simulations and advanced tasks.
  • Motivated to grow in a challenging, mentor-driven environment.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, especially Linux and Windows.
  • Knowledge of basic command-line tools and scripting (Bash/Python).
  • Interest in privilege escalation and exploitation techniques.
  • Exposure to penetration testing tools like Metasploit, Nmap, or Gobuster.
  • Understanding of ethical hacking methodologies.
  • Prior use of Kali Linux or similar OS (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory (a plus but not mandatory).
